Vineyard 28

Vineyard 28 is a family-owned winery located in the Geographe Wine Region of Western Australia, about 1½ hours south of Perth near Harvey and Preston Beach. Founded by Mark Cumbers and Pippa Nielsen, who share a passion for Italian grape varieties, the winery began with the planting of its first vines in 1998. Over 25 years later, Vineyard 28 has grown into a thriving vineyard specializing in Italian varietals such as Arneis, Fiano, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Pignoletto, and Moscato, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blends.

The winery offers a range of handcrafted wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Geographe region, with a focus on varietal expression and food pairing. Vineyard 28 operates from multiple vineyard sites including their original Vineyard 28 property, Rustys, and Wildwater Vineyards, the latter leased in 2015 and located in the Harvey hills. The winery has received numerous awards, notably the Best Italian Red Trophy for their Dolcetto in 2018 and the Best Geographe White Wine Trophy for their 2022 Fiano.

Visitors to Vineyard 28 can enjoy personal guided wine tasting experiences, including the “28” Grazing & Tasting experience and the immersive Taste of Italy Tour, all offered by appointment at their welcoming cellar door. The cellar door, built from local limestone in 2005, offers a warm, family-friendly atmosphere with stunning vineyard views and is both dog and caravan friendly. Vineyard 28 is committed to sustainability, practicing environmentally responsible viticulture to nurture the land and community.
