Rust en Vrede Wine Estate

As one of the most prestigious privately owned red wine Estates in South Africa, we envision Rust en Vrede producing only one flagship wine, the Estate wine (blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot) in the not too distant future. We had to find a purpose and recapture our idealism in an industry that often gives little reason for being idealistic. However, to pursue this we had to make our life and work an adventure. It is the only way to live above the level of mediocricy. One of the reasons is Jannie Engelbrecht himself. Around him, life is adventurous. To him life is a process of discovery.

The Underground cellar of the Estate was the first of its kind for a privately owned South African Estate. Designed by renowned architect Mr Gawie Fagan, the perfectly controlled environment is of invaluable benefit in the production and bottle maturation of our unique wines.

Rust en Vrede Estate is a remarkable example of exquisite landscaping. At home and abroad, this unassuming Stellenbosch Estate has made a name for itself far beyond its modest, but infinitely charming, 64 hectares.
