Moppity Vineyards

Moppity sits in the heart of the Hilltops region 12km SE of Young NSW, high on the slopes of Black Range at an elevation of 600m, and was among the foundation vineyards established in the Hilltops.

The vineyard is one of the largest in the region with 217 acres under vine, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon and Viognier. We carefully select the vineyard's very finest fruit - representing less than 5% of the total crop - for our wines. The remainder supplies the premium labels of other makers.

We have embraced the philosophy that great wines are made in the vineyard. Consequently, every effort is made to promote fruit quality. Minimal irrigation, bunch-thinning and careful pruning ensures low yields of highly concentrated fruit - providing intensely flavoured wines with regional and varietal distinction.

Our wines are typically sourced from the original plantings, which were among the first in the Hilltops region. These gnarly old-timers don't deliver much fruit any more but it's wonderfully concentrated. As they say: old vines make the greatest wines!
