Lightfoot Wines

Lightfoot Wines is located in the Gippsland Lakes district of East Gippsland, Australia, on an ancient limestone ridge with rich red “Terra Rossa over Limestone” soils. The vineyard was originally a cattle farm before the discovery of this unique soil prompted the planting of vines starting in 1995. The Lightfoot family planted the Home Block Chardonnay first, followed by Shiraz and Pinot Noir blocks. The winery is driven by a commitment to biological farming and sustainability, focusing on soil health through the use of compost, mulch, and natural emulsions to create a healthy soil biome, resulting in robust vines and high-quality fruit.

The winemaking philosophy balances traditional methods with exploration and innovation, respecting classic winemaking principles while experimenting with lesser-known grape varieties and emerging styles. Their range includes classic Single Block wines, contemporary styles from the Myrtle Point Vineyard, and limited releases that showcase creativity and character. The cool coastal climate of Gippsland influences the wines, imparting distinctive regional qualities. Lightfoot Wines offers an intimate cellar door experience designed for small groups, and they provide curated wine packs and subscriptions that go beyond just wine sales, including events and wine dinners.
