Gerard Bertrand

The founding principles behind Gérard Bertrand's wines date back to 1992 with the creation of the enterprise. In fact, at the end of his rugby career, Gérard Bertrand decided to create a business reuniting the best winemakers of the Languedoc in order to give a new dimension to his own winemaking activities.

Market forces, the concentration of distribution and the willingness of Gérard Bertrand to prove that the Languedoc itself produces great wines, were the reasons for creating this business.

The 1998 harvest saw the birth of the grands crus, a selection of parcels from Le Viala in La Livinière, from Cigalus for Vin de Pays and from La Forge in the Corbières (in an homage to Georges Bertrand). A clear segmentation for a dynamic business and leader in quality Languedoc wines. What did he lack in order to "convert the try" and to make the Gérard Bertrand wines enterprise known and recognised around the world? An encounter. One with l'Hospitalet.
