Fraser Gallop Estate

Fraser Gallop Estate is a distinguished winery located in the heart of the Wilyabrup region within Margaret River, Western Australia. Established in 1999 by Nigel Gallop, the estate is renowned for producing exceptional single-vineyard wines that reflect the unique terroir of its elevated vineyard site. The vineyard spans 50 acres planted on north-facing slopes with Bordeaux red varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, and south-facing slopes with white varieties including Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. The estate is notable for its commitment to dry-farming, with vines planted without irrigation, encouraging deep root growth and resulting in smaller berries with intense flavors and a distinctive mineral character. The gravelly laterite loam soils over clay subsoil, combined with the moderate maritime climate influenced by the Indian Ocean, create ideal conditions for growing premium Bordeaux and Burgundy grape varieties. The winery itself, purpose-built in 2008, is designed to handle specific varietals with a 300-tonne capacity and employs a blend of traditional and modern winemaking techniques, including the use of French oak barrels from renowned coopers. Fraser Gallop Estate’s wines are crafted with minimal intervention to achieve balance, finesse, and the ability to age gracefully. The estate offers immersive visitor experiences including guided tours, tastings, and educational sessions that highlight the connection between the land, the vines, and the wines. The winery is highly regarded in the region and has received numerous awards, reflecting its dedication to quality and terroir-driven wines.
