Bannockburn Vineyards

Bannockburn Vineyards is a family-owned winery located in the Moorabool Valley sub-region of Victoria, Australia. Established in 1974 by Stuart Hooper, the winery was founded with the vision of producing Australian wines that could emulate the great wines of France, particularly those from Burgundy. Stuart's purist and uncompromising approach to quality grape growing and winemaking laid a strong foundation for the winery. Today, Bannockburn Vineyards remains in the Hooper family, with his daughters as custodians, ensuring that his philosophy continues to guide the winery's operations.

The estate spans 26 vineyard blocks, planted with eight grape varieties and at least 16 clones, contributing to a diverse and dynamic site for wine production. The vineyards are among the oldest in the Geelong wine region, with plantings dating back to the 1970s and 1980s. The Moorabool Valley's unique climate, characterised by minimal rainfall, low-vigour soils, and prevailing winds from the Southern Ocean, provides ideal conditions for growing exceptional grapes. This environment naturally limits yields, resulting in wines with concentrated flavours and refined structures.

The winery produces a range of wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. They offer both blended wines and celebrated single-vineyard wines, such as the Winery Block Chardonnay and the Serré Pinot Noir. The estate's commitment to quality is evident in their meticulous vineyard management and careful attention in the winery, resulting in wines that are exciting, complex, and uniquely Bannockburn.
