Bobal

Bobal is a red grape varietal indigenous to Spain, primarily cultivated in the Utiel-Requena region of Valencia. With a history dating back to Roman times, Bobal has long been valued for its resilience and ability to thrive in challenging conditions. Although historically overshadowed by more internationally recognized varietals, recent decades have seen a resurgence of interest in Bobal, with winemakers producing high-quality wines that showcase its unique character.

The flavor profile of Bobal wines is marked by deep, dark fruit notes, including blackberry, black cherry, and plum, complemented by subtle hints of spice, earth, and sometimes floral nuances. On the palate, these wines often display a robust yet balanced structure, with vibrant acidity and moderate to firm tannins. The combination of these elements lends Bobal wines a distinctive freshness and longevity, making them versatile for both early drinking and aging.

Typically, Bobal wines exhibit a deep ruby to purple color, indicative of their rich phenolic content. The body tends to range from medium to full, supported by a tannic framework that can vary depending on vinification methods and aging.
